Jason Durrant - Bio

Jason Durrant, a resident of Bloomfield, Connecticut, began his God-given musical journey at the age of nine, studying piano at the Artist Collective in Hartford, CT. In those early years, the Lord allowed him to grasp the foundations of classical and jazz theory, planting seeds that would later grow into his calling. Though he stepped away from consistent playing for a season, God reignited his passion through a divine moment of inspiration—watching pianist Jim Brickman on a local PBS station. The purity, peace, and romance of Brickman’s sound stirred Jason’s spirit, awakening a desire to pursue the unique sound God had placed inside him.

As Jason entered his college years at the Hartt School of Music, University of Hartford, the Lord continued shaping his gift. Under the guidance of jazz director Peter Woodard, classical pianist/organist Paulette Barrett, and jazz pianist Warren Byrd, Jason learned discipline, creativity, improvisation, and spiritual sensitivity—skills that would later become part of his ministry. Much of his development took place while serving and playing at the Salvation Army Church, where his gift matured in the presence of worship and community.

Today, Jason ministers through music across churches, weddings, restaurants, charities, and various gatherings. For him, each performance is more than an event—it is an opportunity to serve, uplift, and let the light of Christ shine through sound. Whether playing for a congregation or a single listener, Jason recognizes that every note is a chance to touch hearts, bring peace, and glorify God. His greatest fulfillment comes when audiences sit in reverence, sensing not just his creativity but the purity and inspiration that flow from his soul.

Known affectionately as “Br. JD,” Jason is credited as a contemporary jazz pianist and composer with a God-breathed ability to weave together multiple genres—jazz, neo-soul, gospel, hymns, classical, reggae, and more. His music reaches a wide array of listeners, carrying warmth, joy, and the sincerity of his worshipful heart. With a radiant smile and passion that can only come from above, Jason offers a musical experience that is both artistic and spiritual.

Influenced by jazz, inspired by gospel, and strengthened by faith, Jason Durrant continues to grow in his calling—using every gift the Lord has entrusted to him for edification, encouragement, and the glory of God.
